Summary: AARP wanted to create a more celebratory birthday experience for its members. As part of a larger strategy for acknowledging a member’s birthday, AARP and Trendline created a new Birthday email that leverages several interactive and personalized features, including a GIF with animated stars and confetti, the member’s name dynamically “written” across the email, and the ability for users to “scratch off” the confetti to reveal a special birthday surprise: 1,500 points. The email also contains a video birthday message. Member feedback indicates that this email experience has delivered on its intended outcome of delighting members on their birthday.
